Hello, I am Shane Fetzner a passionate and creative graphic designer with 4 years of college experience and 3 years of various marketing environments where I was responsible for various content. I specialize in website design, video editing, branding, and social media. I graduated from Mercyhurst University with a BA degree in Graphic Design.
My first role was as a marketing analyst for the Innovation Entente Lab, a grant funded program at Mercyhurst University which provides free market research for local business around Erie. In the Spring of 2023 I was a junior analyst creating general research papers for use in client projects such as current demographic information for Erie and on social media in the area. In the Fall of 2023, I became an analyst and began writing reports for clients. This included reports on competitors analysis, how to file for patents, industry best/worst practices, B2B best/worst practices, and SWOT analysis. In addition to that I was designated the role of Graphic Designer and began designing cover pages for reports. In the Spring of 2024, I became strictly the Graphic Designer. In this role I designed cover pages for reports, designed PowerPoints for reports, ran the social media and contributed at networking events. I learned valuable time management skills, the importance presenting yourself professionally, and how to create and present professional reports.
My next role was Interning as a content designer at weCreate Web Design and Marketing in the Summer and Fall of 2024. In this role I created and uploaded content for clients to that were optimized to be posted on their websites and social media. This most commonly manifested as designing new web pages and uploading blogs posts for these client websites. Additionally, I taught myself video editing so that I could join the YouTube project that Nate Wheeler, the owner, was starting called “Manufacturing Insiders Podcast.” Here I created everything the channel needed in order to get started including the logo, colors, fonts, banners, thumbnails, intro sequences, and outro sequences. Additionally I practiced and applied animated graphics in certain videos to make them more entertaining and educational. I learned the importance of being detail oriented, gained experience collaborating with other designers, developers, writers and strategists to correctly optimize content, and showed the capacity to communicate effectively to fellow team members.
What made me stand out was my distinguishing characteristic of being a quick study. During this internship, I was able to quickly adapt and apply my previous web experience to every random content management system a client webpage used. I was also able to pick up video editing in a week. This decreased the time they needed to train me and made me an ideal candidate for new tasks.
Then in mid-January 2025, A month after the internship ended, they requested that I come back as a part time employee in order to manage their backlog of unedited videos and incorporate those videos as shorts for their LinkedIn and YouTube Shorts. This remains my current role. Fast forward to now and their entire backlog was edited and uploaded. Additionally I continue to create and organize a content calendar that is populated with enough clips to go out 5 days a week for the next 16 weeks. This role is really the first time I controlled the reins of the content. Through programs like riverside and Opus Clips, I choose the best moments from the long form videos and edit them to tell a short story and used the video editing skills I have been practicing to bring it to life.
I thoroughly believe that doing graphic design shouldn’t just be something you only do for work. My most recent venture is creating movie edits for my TikTok channel. This is a recent hobby that I have been enjoying due to learning Premiere Pro during my weCreate internship. Importantly, it has been allowing me to practice and enhance my skills in Premiere Pro, video editing as a whole, and in storytelling. My favorite part about it is finding an interesting story that resonates with me, and then using my video editing skills to tell that story in a short and entertaining way. Furthermore, it has given me a chance to apply some of the social media marketing techniques that I learned in books at college. I have been experimenting with different hashtags and sounds in order to build viewership on TikTok.
